I could write a whole men’s fashion blog just about trainers. I don’t sell trainers though cos there isn’t room in my shop but if you’re wearing a cool t shirt, you need a cool pair of kicks too.

I’ve got more shoes than my girlfriend, but there’s one pair I keep coming back to – my Adidas Superstars. The unsung heroes of men’s fashion, and here’s why…

1 - They’re timelessly cool, but still look dated.
Sounds a bit of a contradiction, but its true. They look totally 70s, but they’ve only been out of fashion for a year or 2 in the late 80s, when Nike Airs were born. They’re cool and they always will be

2 – The shell toe
I can get quite excited by the toes on trainers. For a lad like me born in the mid 70s, the Adidas shell toe and 3 stripes is still the coolest thing ever. Compare it to the rubber toe on Converse trainers, which it puts them to shame.

3 – There are so many variations.
Strictly speaking, they’re more of a family of shoes than a design, with all sorts of colours and types. The purists will say it’s black and white or nothing, but I say the more types the better.

Get some and be a hero of men’s fashion, in my eyes anyway. Oh, and scuff them up a bit first so you don’t look like the new boy at school
