self-cloured shirt by Valentino

I love writing a men’s fashion blog as it gives me the chance to give advice to a much wider audience than I can in my day job as a Personal Shopper. And one of the areas I can help is pointing men towards ways to look a million dollars without it costing the earth.
Designer shirts are great, and well worth it for some, but you don’t need to pay a fortune to look just as good.

Valentino, one of my favourite designers of all time, has just done a photo shoot on his yacht in preparation for the release of “The Last Emperor”, a new fly-on-the-wall documentary about his life and long career in fashion. At 76 years young, surrounded by his beloved pug dogs, he still looks as stylish as ever, wearing self-coloured shirts in pastel blue shades to give that look of cool elegance.

And yet any of the quality high-street menswear shops has shirts that will give just the same effect if you’ve not the desire (or cash) for a designer label. With plain and self-coloured designs, provided the material quality and cut are good, then it would take a very keen eye indeed to tell designer from chainstore.
